September 12, Inner Mongolia, the eastern section of the first high-speed railway--Zhangjiakou to Hohhot passenger dedicated line (Wulanchabu to Zhangjiakou section) was laid.

Zhang-Ho Railway is a double-track electrified railway. It is the first high-speed railway in Inner Mongolia with a total length of 286.8 km, including 76 km in Hebei Province and 210 km in Inner Mongolia. The designed speed is 250 km per hour. It is started in March 27, 2014 and expected to be opened to traffic in 2018. It connects the Beijing-Zhangjiakou inter-city rail line, which is greatly facilitates the tourists come from central and western Inner Mongolia, and western Hebei Province into Beijing. After Beijing-Zhangjiakou railway opening, there is only taking 3 hours to arrive Beijing from Hohhot, Inner Mongolia.
