Builders from China Railway No.4 Engineering Group Co., Ltd. (CREC4) cast the No 0 continuous beam on November 22, 2023 on Baishaqiao Super Bridge on the Western Section of Guangzhou-Foshan Ring Line, an intercity railway that surrounds the cities of Guangzhou and Foshan in South China’s Guangdong Province.
The Guangzhou-Foshan Ring Line passes through Foshan’s Nanhai, Chancheng and Shunde districts as well as Guangzhou’s Panyu, Haizhu, Tianhe, Baiyun and Huadu districts. The Guangzhou-Foshan Ring Line consists of four sections —namely the Southern Section (from Foshan West Station to Guangzhou South Station), the Eastern Section (from Guangzhou South Station to Baiyun Airport North Station), the Northern Section (from Baiyun Airport North Station to Guangzhou North Station) and the Western Section (from Guangzhou North Station to Foshan West Station).
The Baishaqiao (White-sand Bridge) Super Bridge, located on the west side of Foshan West Station, is the starting point of the Western Section of Guangzhou-Foshan Ring Line. At 516.33 meters long, and 7.2 meters wide with a height ranging between 5.861 and 12.925 meters, the bridge commands a structural form with prestressed concrete continuous beams, and is being constructed with cantilever pouring method.
Upon completion of the Western Section of Guangzhou-Foshan Ring Line, it will help form a complete intercity rail transit loop line for Guangzhou, the provincial capital, and Foshan, connecting multiple subway lines of the two cities. This will be conducive to optimizing and perfecting the layout of the intercity network in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
