Builders from China Railway No.4 Engineering Group Co., Ltd. (CREC4), who are helping construct the Phase II of a connection railway linking Jiangsu Province and Shanghai Municipality, have started to install box girders in Shanghai.
Constructors from CREC4 Second Engineering Co., Ltd, which are building the Jiangsu-Shanghai Connection Railway on the No VII Bid of the exterior lines of its Phase II, have erected 18 box girders by October 18, 2023, since beginning the job on September 21, averaging one box girder every two days.
The 111.8-kilometer-long Phase II line of Jiangsu-Shanghai Connection Railway, situated near river banks and sea shores in southern Jiangsu and Shanghai, starts from Taicang Railway Station in Jiangsu and ends at Situan Railway Station in Shanghai’s Pudong New Area. With a designed speed of 200 km per hour, the railway passes through Taicang City under Jiangsu’s Suzhou City, as well as Shanghai’s Jiading, Baoshan, Fengxian districts and Pudong New Area. The Phase-II line includes a 7.3-km section in Jiangsu and a 104.5-km section in Shanghai.
The tasks for CREC4 Second Engineering Co., Ltd on the No VII Bid cover the area between Zhuqiao Township in Pudong and Situan Township in Fengxian. It needs to newly build a main line of some 26.6 kilometers and is in charge of production, transportation, and erection of 766 box girders within the section.
Serving as an auxiliary channel for the Shanghai-Wuhan-Sichuan railway corridor and Beijing-Shanghai railways, the Taicang-Situan section will play a key role in promoting the development of sea-rail intermodal transport in the Yangtze River Economic Belt, the integration of the Yangtze River Delta region, and perfecting people’s livelihood.
