The first fully-enclosed metal sound barrier in Suzhou, a prefecture-level city in East China’s Jiangsu Province, which was partially built by the China Railway No.4 Engineering Group Co., Ltd. (CREC4), has received full acceptance by local examiners.
The 6.85-kilometer-long project, located in the Phase-I Rapid Transit Reconstruction of Jiangling Road — the section between S230 provincial highway and Suzhou-Jiaxing-Hangzhou Expressway — and partially built by constructors from CREC4 Municipal Engineering Co., Ltd, passed acceptance on October 13, 2023.
The task undertaken by CREC4 Municipal Engineering Co., Ltd included building of a 296-meter-long enclosed metal sound barrier on one side, a 746-meter-long enclosed metal sound barrier on both sides and a 746-meter-long vertical sound barrier, in addition to the designing of 1,446 steel columns, 1,143 curved beams, 18,100 square meters of metal sound-absorbing plates, 20,968 square meters of transparent soundproof windows, and 1,979 square meters of sound-absorbing louvers.
