The Xihoumen Highway and Railway Bridge is a super sea-crossing bridge across Xihoumen Waterway on the double-track of Ningbo-Zhoushan Railway and Ningbo-Zhoushan Expressway. With a total length of 3,118 meters, the bridge’s main span will be 1,488 meters with cable-stayed suspension cooperation system, while the bridge deck will be 68 meters wide. It is the world’s largest span highway and railway bridge under construction and also the world’s widest sea-crossing bridge.

The Ningbo-Zhoushan Railway, with an investment of 27 billion yuan ($3.9 billion) and starting its official construction on November 2, 2022, will have seven stations, allowing trains to run at a designed speech of 250 kilometers an hour. It is one of the 10 landmark projects in the construction of Zhejiang’s major thoroughfare. Upon operation, it will help the building of the Belt and Road Initiative and the integration of the Yangtze River Delta region.
