Constructors from State builder China Railway No.4 Engineering Group Co., Ltd (CREC4) have erected the first trussed steel beam on a ballastless track bridge for a high-speed railway (HSR) linking Xiongan New Area in North China’s Hebei Province with Shangqiu in Central China’s Henan Province.
The CREC4 builders, who are undertaking the No 11 bid for the 552-kilometer Xiongan-Shangqiu HSR, erected a 66-ton trussed steel beam, which is 9.73 meters long, 3.24 meters wide and 3.86 meters high, on Jul7 31 on the Yellow River Super Bridge located in Taiqian County in Henan and Liangshan County in Shandong Province.
Xiongan New Area, which was established on April 1, 2017 by the central authorities, spans the three counties of Xiongxian, Rongcheng and Anxin in Hebei, and is aimed to relieve Beijing of functions nonessential to its role as the national capital in a bid seek a new development model for densely populated areas. The new area, dubbed “a strategy crucial for a millennium to come,” will help advance the coordinated development of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
The Xiongan-Shangqiu section, part of the Beijing-Xiongan-Shangqiu HSR running for 639 kilometers with 18 railway stations, will have 16 stations allowing trains to run at a designed speed of 350 km per hour.
It has been learned that the Yellow River Super Bridge, which will use some 43,000 tons of steel on its 1,600-meter-long body with nonrigid steel arches, is the world’s longest ballastless track bridge with continuous girders. With the successful erection of the trussed steel beam, the grand bridge has officially started its steel beam erection.
CREC4’s job, or the No 11 bid for the new HSR, runs for 17.38 km, starting from Taiqian County in Henan’s Puyang and ending at Jining City of Shandong.
”During the erection process on July 31, we’ve followed stringent work procedure and scientific allocation of the builders, machines and building materials, so as to usher in the successful job and help build the super bridge into a quality and model project,” said Xing Wenbin, a CREC4 project manager in charge of the 4th sub-branch of the No 11 Bid Project for Exterior Lines of Xiongan-Shangqiu HSR.
It has been learned that the Xiongan-Shangqiu section of Beijing-Xiongan-Shangqiu HSR will also be an important part of the Beijing-Hong Kong-Taiwan HSR included in the country’s “eight verticals and eight horizontals” HSR network. Upon operation, it will connect with the Beijing-Xiongan section, and some other high-speed railways in the country.
