Owners and builders of the Second Chengdu-Chongqing High-speed Railway, a key pillar in supporting the high-quality development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt and the Chengdu-Chongqing Duo City Economic Circle, have hosted a seminar at a construction site of China Railway No.4 Engineering Group Co., Ltd (CREC4), to boost the building of the 292-kilometer-long railway.

The on-site working conference for the Chongqing section of the Second Chengdu-Chongqing HSR was held on July 11 at the No 2 Bid for the exterior railway project undertaken by CREC4. Zhang Zhi, Party secretary and general manager of Yangtze RiverCoastalRailwayGroupChongqing Co., Ltd, Jiang Zheng, deputy Party secretary and secretary of the CPC Commission for Discipline Inspection at YRCRG Chongqing Co., Ltd, YRCRG Chongqing Co., Ltd deputy general managers Yu Liang and Huang Xu took part of the meeting, which also drew Han Yonggang, general manager of CREC4, Li Meng, deputy general manager of CREC4 and director of CREC4 Southwest China Regional Operations Command and other officials related to the project.

YRCRG was jointly established on December 20, 2020, by China Railway Group and six provinces and municipalities along the Yangtze, and based in Wuhan, promoting the construction of high-speed rail along the river.
The Second Chengdu-Chongqing HSR starts from Chongqing North Railway Station, and after passing through Chongqing, and Sichuan’s Ziyang and Chengdu cities, ends at Chengdu Railway Station. With a designed speed of 400 km/h for the trains, it will own eight stations along the whole line. On November 28, 2022, its construction officially started.
While making a speech at the meeting, Zhang Zhi noted that the Second Chengdu-Chongqing HSR is a core project serving the national strategies of Yangtze River Economic Belt and the Chengdu-Chongqing Duo City Economic Circle, and there have been effective preliminary work from the participating units. While deploying work covering six aspects including safe construction, engineering quality, standardized management, construction organization, legal construction, technological and management innovation, Zhang urged the constructors to build the railway into a world-class benchmark HSR representing the Chinese standards, Chinese speed as well as China’s construction capabilities.

Noting that the Second Chengdu-Chongqing HSR will play its strategic role in the future, Han Ronggang stressed that CREC4 builders will continue to enhance their political and work-safety standing in a bid to build the railway into a landmark and top-quality project, reflecting CREC4’s first-class responsibility and engineering quality.
Besides CREC4 delegates, speakers from other participating units also made related speeches.
Participants to the meeting also toured the construction sites of CREC4 in building the HSR, including the Yunwu Mountain Tunnel, Steel Structure Factory, Jinyun Mountain Tunnel and the industrial workers’ living community.
Upon operation, the Second Chengdu-Chongqing HSR will become a high-grade HSR with the highest construction standard and fastest operation speed in China, playing a significant role in perfecting the road network in Southwest China. Meanwhile, it will also shorten the travel time between the two cities, and serve the Chengdu-Chongqing Duo City Economic Circle.
