The first phase of Science Avenue, located in Chongqing’s main urban area and built by China Railway No.4 Engineering Group Co., Ltd. (CREC4), opened to traffic on January 15, offering convenience to local travelers.
Located in the middle of the western valley in the main urban area of Chongqing, the eight-lane Chongqing Science Avenue links Beibei with Jiangjin districts by running through the entire western valley from the north to the south. As a central axis in developing the Chongqing Science City, it is also an important north-south transport artery in the main urban area.
Reconstructed by CREC4, the Phase I of Science Avenue offers travelers a sense of beauty, practicality and intelligence for travel for this EPC (Engineering Procurement Construction) project.
The Science Avenue first-phase project, starting at Shizikou Interchange in the south and ending at Zhongzhu Interchange in the north, extends for 10.5 kilometers. The project covers roads, interchanges, bridges, tunnels, drainage, lighting, comprehensive pipe gallery, green landscape, traffic engineering, safety facilities, sponge city construction, traffic conversion and other ancillary works.
Upon operation to enhance urban traffic efficiency and reduce traffic pressure, the Chongqing Science Avenue is also of vital importance in bolstering the overall link of the city, expanding the scope of the municipality’s urban services, and accelerating its urban economic progress.
