Chu Siyang and her father Zheng Jiawei take a walk in Wangli Village of Yingshang County, east China's Anhui Province, June 9, 2020. Chu Siyang is a 9-year-old girl, whose parents are both grassroots workers engaging in the country's poverty eradication battle. In 2017, Siyang's father Zheng Jiawei volunteered to work as a grassroots worker in Wangli Village of Yingshang County, helping local villagers to cast off poverty and develop infrastructure. Her mother, already been busy working at the frontline of poverty-hit villages, could not spare time to take care of Siyang. As a result, the girl left her hometown in Mengcheng County and followed her father to Yingshang County, which is located over 100 kilometers away. In Yingshang, the little girl had to cope with homesickness and adapt herself to the new environment. Fortunately, new teachers here have been encouraging her and helping take care of her. With three years passing by, Chu Siyang has grown up, and Wangli Village has also shaken off poverty. Siyang expects her family to reunite, as she put in one of her compositions: "As long as my father's work here is ended, I can come back home. And my family will be together ever after."
