Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed paid a visit on December 2 to a road and housing project, being built by China Railway No.4 Engineering Group Co., Ltd. (CREC4), in the country’s Southern Nations, Nationalities, and People’s Region.
The Chebera Project, with a contract value of 523.11 million yuan ($79.2 million), includes building the Chebera Luxury VIP Lodge Project, and constructing a new road extending for 115 kilometers.

Officials from relevant Ethiopian government departments, and leaders from CREC4 Ethiopia Sub-Branch and the CREC4 Chebera Project Management Department accompanied the prime minister during his visit.
After visiting the construction site, and listening to reports on work safety and quality control, work progress and staff deployment, the prime minister offered his full recognition to the work-site production quality, and work progress.
He noted that Ethiopia is willing to forge a long-term cooperative relationship with the Chinese government and the Chinese enterprises. He hoped that with joint efforts of all the Chinese and Ethiopian employees, the road can open to traffic at an early date, injecting new vitality into Ethiopia’s tourism business.

It is learned that the whole project, undertaken by CREC4 First Engineering, is located some 470 kilometers away from the Ethopian capital of Addis Ababa. Work for the whole project, which is planned to last for 36 months, started in June 2021.
Currently, 76.6 percent of the VIP Lodge housing project have been completed.
Earlier this year, the Ethiopian prime ministeralready paid a visit to the project site on May 24.
