CREC4 helps boost building Xiongan New Area in Hebei2022-10-27 15:29:40

Builders from China Railway No 4 Engineering Group Co Ltd (CREC4) are helping boost the construction of Xiongan New Area, which was established on April 1, 2017 by the central authorities to relieve Beijing of functions nonessential to its role as the national capital in a bid seek a new development model for densely populated areas.

Constructors from CREC4 Third Engineering, besides taking part in building the Ecological Corridor Project (Phase I) in Xiongan’s start-up area, are also helping to construct the Landscape and Small Municipal Works in Rongcheng County.

Xiongan New Area, dubbed “a strategy crucial for a millennium to come” in helping advance the coordinated development of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, spans the three counties of Xiongxian, Rongcheng and Anxin in Hebei Province.

Unlike traditional urban development, Xiongan will consist of three sections to avoid over-crowding of resources and population in one central area. Its north section will include five urban groups —Xiongxian, Rongcheng, Anxin, Zhaili town and Zangang town. The central area, used to be fertile arable land, will be better utilized. The south area, adjacent to the Baiyangdian Lake, will focus on the ecological environment. About 70 percent of Xiongan New Area will be covered by trees and water.

Xiongan’s start-up area will serve as its city proper, covering 198 square kilometers. A region of some 20-30 sq km in the start-up area will be selected for Beijing’s colleges, research institutes, hospitals, business headquarters, and financial and public institutions.

According to the National Development and Reform Commission, investment on building Xiongan New Area has reached 400 billion yuan ($57.1 billion) by September 20 since the area’s establishment.

Located in Rongcheng’s western part, CREC4 Third Engineering’s works cover an area of some 290,000 square meters.

The garden landscape and small municipal works of its first batch of 12 plots have been handed over to the property owner, while the remaining two plots are expected to be fully completed by November 10.

So far, the topographic arrangement and landscape engineering construction have been completed for the remaining two plots, and only pavement construction is still under way.
