Construction on Xiongan New Area, which was established on April 1, 2017 by the central authorities, is in full swing, and State builders participating in the job are making great efforts to bolster the development.
State builder China Railway No 4 Engineering Group Co Ltd (CREC4) is one of the participants in helping beautify the new area, which spans the three counties of Xiongxian, Rongcheng and Anxin in Hebei province and is aimed to relieve Beijing of functions nonessential to its role as the national capital.
Constructors from the CREC4 Third Engineering Co Ltd have taken up their role in helping build the Ecological Corridor Project (Phase I) in Xiongan’s start-up area.
Xiongan’s start-up area will serve as its city proper, covering 198 square kilometers. Unlike traditional urban development, Xiongan will consist of three sections to avoid over-crowding of resources and population in one central area. Its north section will include five urban groups —Xiongxian, Rongcheng, Anxin, Zhaili town and Zangang town. The central area, used to be fertile arable land, will be better utilized. The south area, adjacent to the Baiyangdian Lake, will focus on the ecological environment. About 70 percent of Xiongan New Area will be covered by trees and water.
According to the National Development and Reform Commission, investment on building Xiongan New Area has reached 400 billion yuan ($57.1 billion) by September 20 since the area’s establishment.
Located at the D01 and D02 land parcels in the start-up area’s northwest corner, CREC4 Third Engineering’s project covers the east-west ecological corridor (361,000 square meters) and the north section of the north-south urban green belt (some 43,300 square meters).
Bordering NA8 Road in the west, EA1 Road in the north, NA9 Road in the east, and EA2 Road in the south, the project involves a wide scope of engineering work, including earthwork, landscape and planting engineering, construction and bridge engineering, water system engineering, electrical engineering, sponge city and irrigation engineering.
So far, the CREC4 builders have finished construction worth some 59.1 million yuan ($8.44 million), accounting for 47 percent of the total contract amount.
To date, 75 percent of the earthwork, 30 percent of the green planting, 53 percent of the water supply and drainage pipelines, 28 percent of the landscape lighting, 58 percent of the landscape garden roads, and 45 percent of the main structures have been completed.
