Letter of thanks sent to Chinese builders for water supply plant2022-05-20 15:24:10

Since a China-built urban water supply plant, benefiting some 30,000 residents in Canas and Bebedero in northwestern Costa Rica, was officially handed over to the Costa Rican side on March 24 for full operation, the local operator has sent a letter of thanks to the Chinese side, expressing its gratitude.

The urban water supply plant,which was built by China Railway No 4 Engineering Group Co., Ltdto benefitsome 30,000 residents in Canas and Bebedero in Costa Rica,was officially handed over to the local operator on March 24, 2022.

The project, which started construction in April 2019 as the third China-aided undertaking to Costa Rica, aims to help Canas residents to access sufficient water and Bebedero urbanites to eliminate excessive arsenic matter in their drinking water. As the most technologically advanced water supply plant in Costa Rica, which was built by China Railway No 4 Engineering Group Co., Ltd (CREC4), it is also a Belt and Road project.

In the letter of thanks dated May 6 to the Chinese project department, the Costa Rican Institute of Aqueducts and Sewers — which administers the nation’s water systems — expressed its gratitude to the Chinese people and the Chinese government for their generous assistance, as well as to CREC4 for utilizing its advanced technology to help solve the drinking water shortage for local residents.

As the third China-aided project since the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Costa Rica on June 1, 2007, as well as one of the most-anticipated livelihood projects by the local people, the urban water supply plant effectively helpsCanas residents to access sufficient water and Bebedero urbanites to eliminate excessive arsenic matter in their drinking water, providing them with “safe water.”

Costa Rican President Carlos Alvarado Quesada also attended the handover ceremony for this water supply plant.
