Angolan President visits CREC4-built housing project in Cunene2022-04-21 09:37:44

During a trip to Cunene province on April 3, Angolan President Joao Lourenco inspected some undertakings built by China Railway No.4 Engineering Group Co., Ltd (CREC4), expressing his sincere thanks to the Chinese government and the Chinese builders.

He examined the progress of some key engineering projects there, including the Ondjiva General Hospital, Ekuma II new city housing project, and water diversion projects in Cunene, offering high praises to the model rooms for the Ekuma Phase-II project built by CREC4 Municipal Engineering Co Ltd.

On behalf of the Angolan government and the local residents, President Lourenco expressed his sincere thanks to the Chinese government and the Chinese construction units in overcoming the difficulties in battling COVID-19 and making all endeavors in constructing high-quality residential areas for the local people.

This will help create unlimited potential for the commercial development of the Ekuma II new city in Ondjiva, making contributions in bolstering the economic development of Cunene province, he said.

Situated some 1,400 kilometers away from the Angolan capital, the Ekuma II new city housing project in located in Ondjiva city in Cunene, covering a total construction area of about 23,604 square meters. It includes 244 housing units in 37 buildings. The model rooms are the only inspection spot designated by President Lourenco.

It is learned that upon completion, the project will become a modern commercial housing complex in the area. Its top construction quality, beautiful communal environment and perfect auxiliary facilities will help draw a large number of visitors, contributing to local economic progress.

Since 2012, CREC4 Municipal Engineering Co Ltd has actively followed the Belt and Road Initiative, successively building 14 projects in Angola, including the Angola social housing project, the Bier provincial water works, the southeast water plant, the Cunene provincial sewage treatment plant and the housing project.

In building all these projects, CREC4 Municipal Engineering Co Ltd has vigorously promoted a localized management by offering a large number of jobs for local residents and nurturing a group of local technical talent, making contributions to Angola’s development.
