The construction of Mongolia's first expressway, built by a Chinese central SOE, has been completed. Its completion ceremony was attended by Chinese Vice President Wang Qishan during his recent visit to the country.
The two-way six-lane expressway links the main urban area of Ulaanbaatar and the city's new international airport which is still under construction.
Built by China Tiesiju Civil Engineering Group, the expressway is more than 32 kilometers long and 32.5 meters wide, with a designed speed of more than 80 kilometers per hour.

The company had also helped Mongolia build a road which opened in 2005. It has been hailed as one of the best roads in the country for its high quality by the local government and people. The project also won the highest award of Mongolian construction.
In 2014, Chinese President Xi Jinping proposed theChina-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor, aligning Mongolia's Prairie Road program, Russia's transcontinental rail plan and China's Belt and Road Initiative.
The proposal called on the three sides to strengthen traffic interconnectivity, promote freighttransportation and build a transnational power gridto deepen economic cooperation and push forward the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative.
Under the framework of the initiative many major cooperative projects have been undertaken and completed in Mongolia, greatly improving the local infrastructure.
During his visit, Wang also attended the commemorationofthe 70th anniversary of the establishment of Sino-Mongolian diplomatic relations and witnessed the signing of bilateral cooperation agreements on the construction of friendship cities and supporting facilities of rehabilitation centersfordisabledchildren.
